First impressions- Bruce Springsteen has never made an album like this before in his career. After 40 years, that’s an impressive feat. To have the courage and creativity to write an album like this at his age is astounding, but this would be an incredible album no matter who put it out. Never have I experienced a collection of songs so eclectic and unique yet woven together so carefully to speak towards the same theme. I’m blown away by how attention grabbing and straight forward this record is, there aren’t any strings pulled and no note is wasted. For an artist who has built his career telling stories and leaving his listeners the job to fill in the blanks and finish their own story, it’s a truly admirable thing to throw away that style and basically yell in your face what he’s singing about. Bruce is on a mission with this one, and he’s giving every other artist a run for their money.
